Wheatgrass juice is great served with freshly pressed carrot juice. The sweetness of the carrot juice offsets the “grassy” taste of the wheatgrass. Carrot juice is often the first vegetable juice people try due to the palatable taste compared to other vegetable juices.
Carrot juice either straight as a “mono juice” or blended with other vegetables, is almost always on the menu at juice bars and natural food restaurants. The sweetness of carrot juice makes it appealing and a best seller. However, sometimes there can be “to much of a good thing”.
Benefits of Carrot Juice
High in beta-carotene, the precursor to Vitamin A
Good for eyesight and night blindness
High in Vitamins K, C, B6, Thiamine (B1), Potassium, Phosphorus and Manganese (unpeeled carrots have more nutrition than peeled carrots)
WARNING:
Carrot juice is higher in sugar than chopped carrots. The juice removes the fiber which naturally slows the absorption of sugar in the digestive process. One cup (8 ounces) of chopped carrots is 6.19 grams of sugar whereas one cup (8 ounces) of carrot juice equals 9.2 grams of sugar. Due to the higher sugar content if you are diabetic, pregnant, nursing, have medical conditions or suffer from Candida overgrowth or parasitic infections, first check with your medical professional before adding carrot juice to your diet. Note: sugar feeds Candida and parasites and sugary foods can aggravate the condition further.
Including juiced celery, cucumber or leafy greens along with the carrot juice decreases the sugar content of the juice and may provide alternatives for those concerned about the sugar content
To much beta carotene may make the skin turn orange. Drinking more than three 8 ounces glasses in a 24 hour period may temporarily cause the skin to appear orange. This condition is easily reversed by eliminating the carrot from the diet.
Carrots provide a natural dye which may stain teeth, so brush your teeth after drinking carrot juice to avoid this.
