Episode 012 - Love Yourself

1

Invest in the best thing going…YOU! Self care is important for your health. Learning to take time to love yourself and stop putting your needs last. Today I share the story of my “bust a gut” and how I survived. In hindsight I should have called the ambulance, I’m lucky I made it. I call it divine intervention, a guardian angel…I’m grateful to be alive and here with you. I learned a lot after this experience and it’s spurred me on to figure out why. If I can help others with my story, my research and virtually reaching out in love to help them heal...I’ll keep talking!

Episode 012 - Love Yourself

You were created in love, created by God and His message is to love yourself. Love God, love your neighbor and loving yourself are the answer to living whole. Health is a combination of physical, mental and emotional balance and self acceptance is a huge step for some. I’m inviting you to take time to be still, put down the distractions and get to know yourself and love yourself for just being…you.

My “Bust a Gut” Story

The night I nearly died and why. The doctors almost missed the problem as I lay in the ICU fighting for my life they finally figured out what I had tried to tell them from the beginning. Somewhere along the line the communication failed and this oversight was life threatening. Later when I inquired what happened and why this was missed when I ran into the president of the hospital where I had initially gone to the ER. A couple of months later my husband informed me my medical bill balance was zero. I think someone realized the magnitude of this issue and quietly made restitution. I was grateful for no longer paying for their mistakes.

Welcome Your Inner Child Back in Your Life

Remember what you loved to do as a child? That thing that would entertain you for hours and make you forget about the time? When things got tough, what did you find relaxing when you were 7 or 8 years old? These are the things you should bring back into your life and enjoy them, even if people tell you this is childish. I stopped listening to these people and got out my coloring books and colored pencils. I find that coloring is very soothing for me and was what kept me calm during the stressful childhood of moving on the average of once a year and adapting to these new environments.

Histamine Intolerance #7 - Genetic Mutations

Certain genetic SNPs could cause an increased risk for histamine intolerance. MTHFR, HMNT, SAMe, MAO and DAO mutations are discussed in the book and I try to pronounce them and explain the role they play in the histamine story. I share my genetic SNP of MTHFR (the only one tested) and how it has effected me.

DAO is important in the breakdown and management of the histamine “bucket” in the body. There are different ways DAO can be effected by genetic mutations and therefore make histamine issues worse. Working with a functional medicine professional who understands MCAS and the biochemistry, so they can test, manage and support your health journey is recommended.

Take time to do what you enjoy. Think of what makes you lose track of time and get in the flow of serenity and peace. Practicing mindfulness and slowing down to see things you rushed past in the past can calm the nervous system and reduce anxiety.

Give someone a hug, it increases your levels of oxcytocin the “happiness hormone” as it’s been called. This the biochemical release that creates bonds between humans, i.e., mother/child, between lovers, and those we love and respect.

Paint a picture, go for a walk, call a friend, hug your spouse, child or pet…you’ll be glad you did.

Akihiko Returns

I was surprised to see the young doe coming back for another visit. I offered her organic apples, organic carrots from my garden and pumpkin mash I had leftover from my bumper crop of pumpkins. She wasn’t interested in food, she seemed to come to visit out of loneliness. I don’t know why she was alone but I attempted to show her compassion without imprinting on her in order to keep her “wild” for survival’s sake.

This won’t be the last time we see her. Stay tuned for next week’s adventure when she returns for the third and last time for the winter. We also spotted her this spring with two young ones enjoying my Hostas out front!

The 4-Phase Histamine Reset Plan: Getting to the Root of Migraines, Eczema, Vertigo, Allergies and More

Millions of people suffer from allergies, migraines, skin issues, sleep disturbances, digestive ailments or anxiety due to undiagnosed histamine intolerance.

Dr. Becky Campbell, who has years of experience in the field and who suffers from histamine intolerance herself, has created a revolutionary four-phase program to heal your body naturally. What makes her approach different―and more effective for lifelong results―is that it looks for root causes and offers a well-rounded, holistic treatment plan that addresses diet, environmental toxins, lifestyle and more.

To help you uncover why your body is not processing histamine correctly, Dr. Campbell explains the eight most common factors and how to address them. Then she gives you a plan that includes a low-histamine diet, liver care, gut support and direction on how to safely reintroduce the foods that were once making you sick. Along with her wealth of delicious recipes, she also includes information on supplements, ways to reduce stress and much more.
