Merry Christmas! The holidays are hectic and although we celebrate many of us also need to recover from all the stimulation, foods we don’t usually eat and drink and the hours we aren’t used to keeping. Now I’ve learned to slow down and appreciate the gifts I’ve been given. The best gift I received 42 years ago when I married my best friend. I love you honey and I am so fortunate to have you in my life.
I have a gift for you today that I want to share. No, it’s not my husband, it’s not what you may think. For me discovering this was a gift of calm that I needed in this crazy world. I no longer wanted to depend on drugs known as benzodiazepines like Xanax but it worked and I wanted to know why. I found out what would help and someone who wrote a book to answer so many questions. My gift is the knowledge of GABA and the person who can help you understand and treat your anxiety or panic attacks, Trudy Scott.
When I heard Trudy Scott in an interview I discovered she had the answers I was looking for. She is a nutritionist who understands the need for balancing your body’s chemistry to help with your mood issues, histamines and MCAS, and social anxiety and panic attacks. I had learned that Xanax helps enhancing GABA somehow but it took me down a rabbit hole of learning about the vagus nerve and into a deeper hole of biochemistry. I’ll give you a shortcut to the help and I’ve provided some links to her website that share insight on how an amino acid known as GABA can help.
I invite you to take the quiz on Trudy’s website to learn more. This quiz will help narrow what amino acids might help your symptoms.

I also investigated how essential oils can effect your nervous system and regulate and bring calm to an overstimulated parasympathetic nervous system and found information on the subject in a book I’ve shared before on earlier episodes.

Reason #8 for Histamine Intolerance
Four Phase Histamine Reset Plan by Becky Campbell, MD
Prescription side effects or ingredients in the drugs or supplements can trigger histamine issues. Today I share a list of drugs that can trigger a histamine reaction. If you are on any of these drugs or suspect something you are ingesting as a prescription or supplement might be causing your issues, discuss these concerns with your physician about alternative solutions. Do not discontinue taking any medication without first consulting with your medical professional.
I also check the database at crediblemeds.org to determine if any drug being prescribed may effect my Long QT Syndrome as a cardiac arrythmia issue that could be lethal for me. If you have heart rhythm issues you should set up an account on this website, it’s free but requires registration so you can be notified of updates of new drugs added or a status of a drug that may have been changed.
Merry Christmas from me and my kitten, Honey. He was born on Mother’s Day in a bee box in the barn, hence his name. He is mischievous like any young kitten but he is a sweetheart.
Autoimmune Disease
Autoimmune disease has become an epidemic and the time has come for each of us to get the help we need. Unfortunately the medical system isn’t working for us and we must take charge and learn how to help ourselves.
The main causes are being dealt with by prescribing medications that have side effects that can make things worse. Not all drugs are bad, but isn’t there a better way? If just one other, alternative way can help someone shouldn’t we be investigating it further?
New Friends
Anihiko comes to visit, just before Thanksgiving last year, for the third and final time for the winter. Before she leaves she gets friendly with our cat, Smudge. Our other feline friend, Patches, decided to give the fawn a wide berth. Funny how animals relate to each other. We are all God’s creatures.
Anihiko revisited us in the late spring of 2023 to show us her twin fawns. They dined on my hostas and flower garden out front.
Enjoy what you love to do, something you’ve enjoyed since childhood. Rediscovering the child in us, brings joy, and lets our true nature shine. I have always enjoyed art, as a child I used crayons and now I love to paint with watercolor. I enjoy learning new techniques and do an online course, this was done following Anna Bucciarelli’s Patreon class. You can also find her on YouTube. I enjoyed painting this one yesterday while it snowed outside my studio.
