The GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) Diet should heal whatever ails you. The center of our body is our gut, and it seems to be the center of our immune system and overall health. Health all boils down to how diverse and healthy one's microbiome is. I'll admit, mine needs some work.
I think most Americans are in need of this kind of healing. Everyone, even kids have a diet and lifestyle that hasn't been kind to our body, especially our digestive system. The GAPS diet was first attributed to helping children with autism not only heal their digestive issues but also eliminated some of the autistic characteristics these patients lived with and the rest is history.
Adults and children benefit from following the GAPS diet and giving their digestion some time to heal. If you wondered whether the diet was okay for the kids, well one doctor, a pediatrician, shares his thoughts on the GAPS diet for his patients. Gaps Diet: Is It Right for Your Child?
Natasha Campbell-McBride is the author of the book, GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) in which she covers in great detail the what and the why of this new way of eating. She later wrote the book that I'm reading, GAPS (Gut and Physiology Syndrome) which identifies many chronic diseases that can benefit greatly from following the diet. She also wrote several other books which all can be found on her website.
Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride graduated with Honors as a Medical Doctor in 1984 from Bashkir Medical University in Russia. In the following years she gained a Postgraduate MMedSci Degree in Neurology.
After practicing for five years as a Neurologist and three years as a Neurosurgeon she started a family and moved to the UK. Fairly shortly after that her son was diagnosed autistic, which prompted an intensive study into causes and treatments of autism. It was during this time that Dr Campbell-McBride developed her theories on the relationship between neurological disorders and nutrition, and completed a second Postgraduate Degree in Human Nutrition at Sheffield University, UK. She practiced in the UK as a nutritionist and not as a medical doctor.
Dr Campbell-McBride used to run the Cambridge Nutrition Clinic. Having trained thousands of Certified GAPS Practitioners around the world, Dr Natasha has closed her clinic in order to focus on writing and teaching. As a nutritionist she has specialized in using nutritional approach as a treatment, and has become recognized as one of the world’s leading experts in treating children and adults with learning disabilities and other mental disorders, as well as children and adults with digestive and immune disorders.

Personally I've been transitioning towards the GAPS diet. In other words I didn't start with the GAPS Intro Diet, instead started the main GAPS diet. I haven't eaten the Standard American Diet for over a decade but my gut issues still plague me and it boils down getting down to the basics.
Join me as I venture down this path, this healing journey. I welcome anyone who wants to take back their health once and for all. For more information about Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride or the GAPs Diet, I invite you to check out the following links.
