Our food is full of toxic materials that have been allowed for years, actually decades. It is time to reclaim our health. Did you know that many of the food companies were actually owned by tobacco companies in the 1990’s? The same time frame that high fructose corn syrup became an ingredient in everything on the shelf at the grocery store.
These tobacco companies used the same playbook that created and yet denied the addictive quality to their products with tobacco in the 1950’s until 1989, when they were forced to admit that tobacco was addictive. This shift in the tobacco industry and market drove them to capture the food market in the 1990’s and use the same tactics to change the American diet and how we consume our food. These changes created a ripple effect in the industry that ultimately drove the obesity epidemic on the public and then turn the blame to the consumer…just like they did with their “tobacco science”…creating a substance to get you “hooked” and then blaming you for lack of self control.

Why do so many people who travel to Europe or other countries report being able to eat food that they can no longer consume in the US? This seems to be true for flour based products, like breads, pastas and pastries more than any other foods, but this is not the exception. Did you ever wonder why and which foods are most suspect? Food Crimes
How did our food get so corrupt and what can be done about it? Globalization has created a easier market for these food criminals. So many cracks in the system, so many “inside jobs” that thwart inspections, and lax laws and penalties for those convicted make it a lucrative business worth millions of dollars to an unsuspecting public who are eating potentially unsafe food and definitely inferior quality products. “You get what you pay for” isn’t always true.
The LIES
The deception is often in the marketing and perception by the public who are really trying to eat healthier with labels that proclaim health benefits that are anything but. Often a consumer is misled into thinking that something that bears a USDA organic label or a GMO Free label as being healthier than other products. Same goes for “gluten free” and “heart healthy” marketing proclamations on wrappers. We want to eat “clean” and “healthier” so it makes it into our cart. But do we really contemplate the “health” claims and put them to the test? Does that granola bar contain almost as much sugar as a candy bar even though it’s “gluten free” or “organic”? Bread…The Staff of Life or the Dagger in Death?
Predominately I wanted to focus on bread and the adulteration that has been done to one of the most nutritious foods in our diets, in it’s whole grain form. Don’t be fooled by labels that portend to be “whole grain” and yet are sitting on the shelf at your local grocery. A TRUE whole grain bread is NOT shelf stable and would need to be frozen in order to be preserved properly. The “whole grain” flour sold on the shelf has had some of the wheat bran added back in to the flour but none of the REAL nutrition it originally contained.
Do you know the flour you buy off the shelf at the grocery store has been stripped of any true nutrients? Fifty years later the government passed a law to “enrich” or “fortify” flour with five synthetic vitamins and minerals to replace the forty that were removed in the milling process. The wheat bran that gets added back increases fiber but fails to deliver the nutrition that our ancestors ate when they ground the wheat and baked it fresh. When you grind the wheat berry and use the freshly ground flour to make your baked goods, all the nutrition is available in it’s natural form, the way our creator intended it to be eaten.
The bran has the fiber, and the wheat germ with it’s important vitamin E, beta carotene, amino acids and nutrition that is lost when processed have been stripped from conventional flour at the market. This stripped version that we know as “flour” is devoid of true nutrition. What remains is the endosperm of the wheat which is ultimately nothing more than starch and proteins.
The starch from this milled flour turns to sugar in the body and ultimately raises the glycemic index (blood sugar) which leads to diabetes. The other component in milled flour are two proteins, that when mixed with water creates gluten. This gluten, or scaffolding; makes bread rise, but makes many people wary of eating breads. Then there is the fear of carbohydrates that is attributed to baked goods. Those on keto diets, gluten free diets or carnivore diets avoid carbohydrates which includes breads, pastas and more. I can understand avoiding the foods baked with conventional all purpose flour. However the flour from freshly ground wheat is packed with nutrition that most Americans are missing, no matter what diet they are on.
Baked goods, typically made with all purpose flour and often loaded with excessive sugar are problematic for the waistline. Whole grains, with the wheat bran is full of fiber which actually slows down the metabolic rate and digestion of these carbohydrates so they are actually beneficial and do not raise the blood sugar, but rather tend to lower it. This fiber in the wheat bran is prebiotics (food) for your gut microbiome. These friendly bacteria, that if you are lucky, live in your digestive tract and are those bacteria that are responsible for creating vitamins, amino acids, dopamine and seratonin, and much more during digestion of a high fiber diet such as whole grain, freshly milled flour. These friendly bacteria are wiped out when taking antibiotics or eating foods sprayed with glyphosate, the key component of RoundUp, the herbicide used on GMO foods. Did you know the FDA has recently approved GMO wheat in the USA?
If you think it’s bad now…do nothing now, and in five years, I’m not sure we’ll still be here. The toxic soup our world has become, and the poisons in our food, air and water will destroy humans in a very short time. How long do you want to suffer before you stand up and say NO MORE!

Have you ever read the label of the bread you buy? Do you recognize any of the ingredients? Did you know that bread can be made with only four ingredients? Why Is This So Important to Me?
I had food related issues two weeks after birth and I nearly died. Supposedly surgery “fixed” my problem but my food sensitivities continued throughout my life. I was the “canary in the coal mine” when it came to food. I became aware in my early 20’s of the correlation of the food I ate and my “reactions” usually within hours, sometimes within minutes of ingestion.
The first was MSG (Chinese Restaurant Syndrome) and the second was seed oils used in restaurants. It took me decades to connect enough dots to find out it wasn’t me…it was our poisoned food system.

I’m retired now and have the time to cook from scratch, read labels and do the research to circumvent this time bomb called the “American Diet” but so many consumers don’t have this luxury. I once worked outside the home, raised a family and took college classes part time for years. I had little time to think of what I was feeding my family. The US government agencies had my back. The FDA, USDA and the EPA wouldn’t let our food be poisoned, that’s what our tax dollars are for…right? Nothing could be further from the truth. These alphabet agencies have been corrupt and are a big part of the problem. We’ve been lied to by the very agencies that were put in place to protect us.
