Just in case you wondered where I’ve been the past couple of days…well, I’ll tell you. Life kind of kicked in and kept me busy and away from the computer for a change. Yesterday we celebrated my husband’s birthday and I took the day off from writing to spend it with him. We won’t mention which birthday, just that it was a good one.
These past couple of weeks I’ve spent every other day or so in the kitchen canning tomatoes from our garden into a kettle full of 7 quart jars of stewed tomatoes for every batch. We still have our day of tomato sauce canning day to do. For that I hope to find a local farmer with a bushel or two of good sauce tomatoes. The ones from my garden don’t all get ripe at the same time to do a big batch of sauce.
Got a little assortment of peppers this year, a salsa mixture which I’m going to make tomorrow with the extra tomatoes that didn’t fit in the canner.
The sunflowers are gorgeous this year and quite a few were planted by the animals and were popping up in all areas of the garden. This one is right at eye level and I couldn’t help but marvel at it’s symmetrical design and in awe at God’s beauty everywhere.
I’m also working on a project that I think you’ll like. I’m racing against the clock to get things done in the next two weeks. I’ll explain better later, trust me for now.
Somewhere under a ton of weeds we’ve got a bunch of potatoes yet to dig up and store. Later….I’m still on the tomatoes. I hope you are having a blessed day and enjoying the fruits (or veggies) of your labor.
Are you preparing for a long winter? What goodies do you create in your kitchen?
