Episode 017 - Pain

I learned self hypnosis when I was in middle school and my first time to try it out in a real world situation was at the dentist. Today I share my story, and why my mother thought I was a difficult child. I just saw things differently than others did. I was an old soul from birth. I also lived with constant pain and after reading some books on my father’s bookshelf about Edgar Cayce and his healing modalities, I decided to try using my new found knowledge. I didn’t share this with anyone back then because it was too woo-woo back in the 70’s.

If you’d like to try self hypnosis to help you mitigate your pain or anxiety, there’s an app for that, but first check out the website for Reveri, and you can try it out for free.

What would Mama Jessie do? My great grandmother didn’t go to the drugstore for pain relief, she had home remedies to relieve the body’s cry for help. I’ve learned so much from Barbara O’Neill and she’s reminded me how to take care of myself and my loved ones in a more natural way. (If you have an emergency situation, please do not hesitate to seek immediate medical attention.)

Magnesium

More than once when a health crisis landed me into the hospital, the one thing that seemed constant was a IV bag hanging from the pole with MgSO4 written on the side. Magnesium Sulfate chemical equation is really what Epsom salts in a bath is. The IV is much stronger and quicker and needed in an emergency because magnesium drives 300 enzymatic processes in the body. Did you know that? Dr. Osborne’s Zone claims 700 Reasons Why You Need It (Magnesium).

For starters or if you don’t have a tub, you may want to try a foot bath and use just a teaspoon or two of just Epsom Salts to start. The minerals are healing and in the process could cause your body to detox and going to fast could be problematic for some the first time. Start slow and let your body be the guide. Work up to a full bath with Epsom Salts. I now use up to one cup in a garden sized tub.

Magnesium creams and lotions are available for muscle cramps, especially in the legs, like “restless leg syndrome”. This method also helps specific spots that need a little extra TLC.

Magnesium comes in many forms and the video below covers the different versions and how and why you might prefer one over the other.

You’ve seen all the videos I created last year in my garden. I hope you enjoyed them in my earlier episodes.

Pretox Before You Detox

Eliminating the influx of toxins before you attempt to detox with magnesium or other methods. I talked about Pretox Before You Detox in Episode #008, Joy in Healing, go back and listen in case you missed it.

Yoga with Shirley Tranquill

Today I share a opportunity to get up from your chair and stretch with Shirley’s Yoga Flow workout (see video below). Start slowly and do what you can and stop when you feel the pain, don’t push yourself too far. Over time you will become more flexible and can go a little longer. You know how far you can go and if you are a Zebra, do what you can. She also has a Chair Yoga you might find a better way to stretch. She also has a Core Pilates video too.

Movement keeps your blood flowing, your muscles flexible and boosts my energy. The techniques with breathing, mindfulness and the physical benefits are all better after a little yoga. I invite you to try it, you might like it.

The Mineral Fix: How to Optimize Your Mineral Intake for Energy, Longevity, Immunity, Sleep and More

Micronutrient deficiencies are widespread across the globe in both developed and developing countries. These deficiencies pose a serious threat to long-term health and longevity. Deficiencies in key minerals, such as magnesium and potassium, increase the risk of chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It is estimated that 1 out of 3 people in the United States has at least 10 minerals they are deficient in. Those 10 minerals being potassium, manganese, magnesium, calcium, zinc, iron, copper, selenium, chromium, molybdenum and boron. The Mineral Fix is a comprehensive guide about the role of essential minerals in the human diet. It includes information on all 17 of the essential minerals that humans need for proper physiological function and survival as well as the 5 possibly essential minerals that also have an important role in overall health.

Faith and Hope

Living for over six decades with these chronic issues that doctors seemed to know little or nothing about often left me feeling defeated and with little hope. I found my courage and my strength through my faith. I found these daily devotionals by Sara such encouraging words that I hope reach out to you too, wherever you are and whatever you’re going through.
